We're an independent, locally-run guide to North Sydney — built by people who work and live here, queue for the morning coffee, and know which pub has the good beer garden.

What Northsydney.xyz is

Northsydney.xyz is a hand-kept guide to the best of North Sydney: where to eat and drink, where to shop, the services the CBD runs on, and how to stay and explore the harbour. We're not a council site or an automated scraper — just locals who got tired of repeating the same recommendations and decided to write them down.

Who's behind it

We're a small, independent team based in and around North Sydney. Between us we've done the Mount Street coffee run more mornings than we'd admit, knocked off at the Greenwood on a Friday, and walked the foreshore to Lavender Bay more times than we can count — so the recommendations here come from genuine local experience, not a media kit.

How we choose what to list

  • Local first. We list businesses that genuinely operate in North Sydney and the surrounding Lower North Shore.
  • Recommended, not advertised. Standard listings are free and editorial — a business can't pay to be called good.
  • Licensed & legitimate. For trades and regulated services, we ask for the relevant NSW licence details.
  • Kept current. We review listings regularly and remove places that close or consistently let people down.
  • Clearly labelled. Anything sponsored or affiliate-linked is marked Featured so you always know what you're looking at.

How we stay free (and make money)

Northsydney.xyz is free to use and always will be. We cover our costs in two transparent ways:

  • Affiliate links on some stays and tours — if you book through them we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
  • Optional Featured listings for businesses that want more visibility — always clearly labelled.

Earning a commission never changes our honest opinion, and we only feature places we'd send a colleague to. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

Where we cover

North Sydney is our focus, with the surrounding Lower North Shore — Milsons Point, McMahons Point, Kirribilli, Cammeray, Crows Nest and Waverton — close behind. If you run a great local business in the area, we'd love to hear about it: add a listing (it's free).
